Mit dieser Hausarbeit möchte ich nun nicht einen weiteren Beitrag zu diesen Argumentationen liefern, sondern der Frage nachgehen, ob Leistungssport auch für solche Menschen gilt, die nicht in die standardisierten Schemen der modernen Medienindustrie passen, Menschen mit Behinderungen. Ohne Zweifel werden von Sportlern mit Behinderungen große Leistungen vollbracht. Wo aber ist die Grenze zu ziehen zu den Punkten, die, wie oben angeführt, in der Allgemeinheit das Bild vom Leistungssport prägen. Ist es richtig, beim Behindertensport von einer Randsportart zu sprechen, wie vielleicht Judo oder Kanu? Auch in diesen Sportarten wird Leistung erbracht, Hochleistung, aber eben nur am Rande wahrgenommen. Im dritten Kapitel möchte ich die Frage diskutieren, ob und inwieweit die Medien Einfluss haben auf die artwork und Weise, wie Behindertensport aufgefasst wird. Dieser Ausarbeitung zugrunde liegen hauptsächlich Quellen aus den letzten fünf Jahren, ich hoffe damit aktuelle Erkenntnisse aus der Sportwissenschaft einbringen zu können.
