Eine theoretische Grundlage soll die wesentlichen Begrifflichkeiten „Team“, „Teambuilding“ und „Gruppenkohäsion“ klären und das Konzept der Persönlichkeits- und Teamentwicklung nach Sygusch darlegen, welches die foundation für die durchgeführten Interventionseinheiten bildete. Das Hauptaugenmerk dieser Arbeit liegt auf der Präsentation basketballspezifischer und -unspezifischer Übungsformen zur Förderung des Teamzusammenhaltes und der psychosozialen Ressourcen.

Am Beispiel eines Basketballteams wurden sieben eigens konzipierte Interventionseinheiten durchgeführt.
Eine Korrelation zwischen Kohäsion, vor allem Aufgabenkohäsion, und Leistung in groups mit interpendenten Aufgabenstrukturen (Alfermann & Strauß, 2001) und in interagierenden groups (Schlicht & Strauß, 2003) konnte anhand der Literatur festgestellt werden. Daher ist die Zielsetzung der Interventionseinheiten, die vorhandene Kohäsion zu verstärken, um die Leistungsfähigkeit zu verbessern. Mit Hilfe von teambildenden Maßnahmen soll die Gruppenkohäsion gefördert und anhand des Kohäsionsfragebogens activity (KFS) von Schmidt & Schleiffenbaum (2000) überprüft werden.
